Elections Commission (EC) is now accepting applications of candidates who are running independently in the parliamentary election after losing in the primaries.

This follows the Supreme Court ruling earlier on Monday to allow losers of primaries to run independently on the basis of political freedom.

EC chief Ahmed Shareef on Twitter said that those who lost their party primaries can apply for candidacy until March 4.
