Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has been appointed as the Maldivian ambassador to Singapore.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented his letter of appointment at a ceremony held at the President's Office on Monday morning.
Following his appointment, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid congratulated Dr. Mausoom via twitter.
"Looking forward to closer bilateral cooperation between the two countries as we draw closer to the 44th anniversary of Maldives-Singapore diplomatic relations," added the minister. Diplomatic relations between both countries was established on February 20, 1975.
The new ambassador earned his doctorate- in philosophy- at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
He had served a number of posts in the government, including tourism minister and environment minister. He has also served as the parliament representative for Kelaa constituency.
Prior to his appointment as ambassador to Singapore, Dr. Mausoom was the chief executive officer and the Streamliners Pvt. Ltd.
