The children of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom have paid MVR two million to settle a lawsuit by Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC).

RaajjeMV understands that the lawsuit was settled on Sunday.

RCC had filed suit against former foreign minister Dunya Maumoon, incumbent minister of arts, culture and heritage Yumna Maumoon, former state minister at the President’s Office Ghassan Maumoon, and Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon.

RaajjeMV understands that the lawsuit was launched after the siblings failed to pay the remaining MVR two million of RCC's payment after the company constructed a building registered to them.

In 2017, the Civil Court ruled on the side of the construction company.

RCC is owned by the father of former STO managing director Adam Azim and the father of deputy prosecutor general Ahmed Usham.

While Faris and Ahsan are running in the parliamentary election, those who have unsettled debt are barred from contesting.
