President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed hope that the ties between India and Maldives will continue to reach new heights in the understanding and trust that has been renewed in recent months.

The Maldives President made this remark during a farewell call made by Indian Ambassador to Maldives, Akhilesh Mishra at the President’s Office.

During the call, President Solih had emphasized on the close partnership Ambassador Mishra has had with Maldives over the years, going on to express his appreciation of Ambassador Mishra’s familiarity and keenness for the Maldivian language, customs and traditions.

The President’s Office revealed that the pair had discussed the importance of maintaining the drive for mutually beneficial initiatives in multiple areas such as capacity building, infrastructure development, sports cooperation as well as renewable energy.

In addition, Ambassador Mishra had applauded Maldivians for the way they overcome challenges, describing it to be inspirational. Mishra expressed his hope that the strong people-centric-agenda between both countries will continue to prosper.

Also, at a farewell call paid on Vice President Faisal Naseem on Monday morning, the Maldives VP had applauded the Indian Ambassador for his efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between both countries during his ambassadorial term.

In closing, both President Solih and Vice President Naseem had wished the Ambassador well in his future endeavors and commended him for his remarkable services to cultivate the historic ties that have brought the two countries closer, during his tenure.
