A solar park capable of producing enough power for the entirety of capital city Malé is to be developed in Hulhulé island, the government has said.
The Finance Ministry announced the project for public tender on Sunday, and will be accepting proposals until 14th March.
The ministry said that USD 16 million is to be allocated and the venture is carried out under the World Bank and Maldivian government’s ASPIRE (Accelerating Sustainable Private Investments in Renewable Energy) program.
The ASPIRE program was launched in 2013 and solar panels were installed in Hulhumalé reclaimed land. ASPIRE is funded by the Climate Change Fund, along with the World Bank and the Maldivian government.
