A dinghy boat that departed on a fishing expedition off of Addu City had capsized on Sunday night.

The Maldives national Defence Force (MNDF) stated that the incident was reported to them at around 08:30 that night.

There were three Maldivians onboard, two of whom had managed to swim to the nearby Shangri-La Island Resort.

RaajjeMV understands that the third individual, who has been confirmed missing, is a 27-year-old police officer.

The MNDF Coast Guard’s southern area squadron is now looking for the officer. He reportedly been wearing a black jersey shirt over a dive suit.
