The woman who attempted self-immolation in Gaddhoo island of Gaafu Dhaal atoll last month, has been taken abroad for further treatment.
A relative of the woman, who narrowly survived an attempt of self-immolation with over 70 percent of her body having been burned, said that she has been transferred to India for further treatment following the recommendation of doctors two days ago.
She was taken under the expenses of Aasandha Company.
The family revealed that the woman’s condition is slowly improving. They had however not revealed which hospital she is being treated at, in India.
The single mother of two children set herself ablaze on the 25th of January and had been receiving treatment from the Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Thinadhoo island before she was brought to the capital the same day for further treatment.
A council member told RaajjeMV that the woman had never attempted suicide before and that she had been living a normal life with her two children, aged three and six.
