The government’s assessment of the housing situation across the Maldives is nearly complete, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has said.
Deputy Minister Ali Shameen said that 80 percent of this assessment was completed by Monday, 28th January.
The assessment is carried out in the outlying islands with the assistance of local government councils.
The assessment will ascertain exactly how many people or families require housing and what form of public housing the state should invest in.
The ministry says it will provide a report of its findings once the assessment is complete.
