Two individuals have been severely burned, following an explosion aboard a safari near Meeru Island Resort and Spa.

Media official at the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the incident was reported to them at around 11:47 am on Sunday and that injured are a Maldivian and an expatriate.

Police are currently working to transport both of them to capital city Male’ for treatment.

Police have since launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.
