A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition from injuries sustained in an accident in the outer road of capital city Malé.

The Maldives Police Service confirms that the accident occurred at about 07:00am on Saturday morning.

The police says witnesses at the scene claimed that the the girl had no pulse, although doctors have since refuted this.

The hospital treating the victim confirms that she is in critical condition.
