A man has been left with severe head injuries after being hit by a falling plank of wood under a construction site in capital city Male’.
Injured is Ahmed Mohamed, native to Thinadhoo island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
Ahmed attained serious injuries to his head, reports a family member who also stated that he had fainted on the spot.
The family member further said that there was no trace of a person from where the plank of wood fell and that construction work had not been ongoing at the time.
RaajjeMV understands that the warning signs had not been placed at the site, although it had been fenced off.
The site in question is located in Maafannu ward of the capital city.
This is similar to an incident where a falling cement bag fatally injured a seven-year-old girl while walking by a construction site in mid-December.
Following the incident, the Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure have been conducting full inspections of construction sites in Male' to take necessary action against those in violation of construction regulations.
