A clean-up of the harbour at the Villingili ferry terminal in capital city Malé has been held on Saturday.
The initiative was inaugurated by Malé Mayor Shifa Mohamed, and is held to commemorate the Maldives National Defence Force’s Coast Guard unit’s 39th anniversary.
A number of plastic bags, bottles, and other trash were collected from the harbour and its lagoon; the city council says that clean-ups for the area will be held again.
Saturday’s clean-up began at 7:00am.
