Audit shows 'high' number of civil servants, no danger of losing jobs

As requested by the President’s Office, the Commission had conducted an audit of 14 ministries including the Auditor General’s Office, from 2016 onwards

Despite the ‘high’ number of civil servants, there is no danger of anyone losing their jobs, Civil Service Commission (CSC) has said.

As requested by the President’s Office, the Commission had conducted an audit of 14 ministries including the Auditor General’s Office, from 2016 onwards.

Speaking on the matter, CSC’s director general Abdulla Saeed told RaajjeMV that the purpose of the audit was to study and improve the current work conditions of civil service employees.

Noting that there is a ‘high number of employees’ at some ministries, Saeed said that there is no danger of them losing their jobs.

He said that the Commission intends to transfer employees to ministries with lesser staff members, rather than cutting the number of employees.

Furthermore, Saeed said that the audit is benefiting the offices.

CSC will not publicize their audit reports, as they are done jointly by the Commission and respective ministries.
