President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that his government will not in any way influence the state media.
The President said this in a special interview with the Voice of Maldives, the country’s first broadcast radio station, on its 56-year anniversary.
In the interview, President Solih said his government will not influence the Public Service Media (PSM) in order to allow it to become the media of the people.
Noting the issues people raised against PSM during the previous administration, President Solih said that he aims to make the state media run independently from the government and be a reliable source of information.
He also said that his government will not target any journalist for publicizing information and advised reporters not to forget their responsibility to give accurate information to the public.
