An ailing elderly woman taken into state care due to neglect has died during treatment.
82-year-old Sameeha Hassan, who was taken into state care on Saturday, died at the Hulhumeedhoo health center.
RaajjeMV understands that she was unmarried with no children and that her only brother is weak with old age.
Gender ministry’s assistant director Ibrahim Mohamed told RaajjeMV that Sameeha died of old age while plans were being made to transfer her to Male’.
The state had taken her under its care after the story of her plight became viral online.
