One of two individuals who sustained several injuries in an accident on the Sinamalé Bridge highway, connecting capital city Malé to Hulhulé island, remains in ‘serious’ condition.

The accident occurred early Thursday morning, at about 5:30, resulting in the injury of two men, a 29-year-old and a 36-year-old.

They were treated at the Hulhumalé Hospital and have been transferred to the state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Malé. The hospital has not revealed the extent of their injuries.

The Maldives Police Service, in an effort to reduce accidents on the bridge and the highway, has advised drivers and riders to adhere to road safety regulations.

The speed limit on the highway is 50km an hour, double the speed limit in the capital city.
