Opposition remains united, will produce a presidential candidate: Qasim Ibrahim
Qasim said the coalition’s unity yet remains intact and that there is no reason it cannot produce a single candidate for the 2018 elections
He further said President Yameen was terrified of the opposition against him, and thus has pursued baseless charges against him
Qasim was questioned for ‘bribery, threatening voters, and attempting to bribe an individual’

Opposition Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has said that the opposition would produce on candidate with the full unwavering support of all parties in responding to President Abdulla Yameen’s remark against the opposition coalition on Thursday night. 

President Yameen said on Thursday that the opposition was bound to be dysfunctional because it had too many presidential hopefuls – which is indicative of potential discord. 

At a JP rally at Kunooz, the party’s primary assembly site, that the coalition’s unity yet remains intact and that there is no reason it cannot produce a single candidate for the 2018 elections. 
Ibrahim, who was summoned to questioning on Wednesday night, for an ongoing investigation against him for ‘bribery, threatening voters, and attempting to bribe an individual’ then reiterated that members of the ruling coalition already mistrust each other.

He further said Yameen was terrified of the opposition against him, and thus has pursued baseless charges against him. 

Ibrahim reffered to ongoing speculations the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital’s new 25-storey building was offered for a higher price than needed, to say that corruption was no longer just rampant, but blatant. 

The speculations have led to a probe public finance committee probe.
