At a press conference on Monday, NDMC director general Shafeenaz Hassan said they have received donations from seven parties, which includes individuals and private companies.

Hassan said that people have also been a great help by donating household items.

He also said they have now assessed 206 of the 214 reportedly affected households, but that their team was unable to enter the other 12 houses for various reasons. However, he said the houses will be assessed within the week.

Also at the press conference, defense minister Mariya Ahmed Didi received donations from three companies. They are T-Jetty that donated MVR 10,000, Maldives Monetary Authority that donated MVR 50,000, and Happy Market that donated MVR 150,000.

After receiving the cheques, minister Mariya said that they are still receiving reports of damages but noted that, according to NDMC regulations, the reports will only be accepted if they are filed within 48 hours after the incident.
