One of the victims of the scuba diving accident near Gaaf Alif’s Outrigger Konotta Resort on Friday has been taken to Male’ for treatment.
24-year-old Ahmed Shakir has been transferred from GDh. Thinadhoo to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
An IGMH official told RaajjeMV that Shakir is being treated at the emergency room after being admitted at 7:30pm, Friday.
Shakir was diving for bait fish with two other men early Friday morning. The accident occurred when they struggled to come up on time after staying underwater for 35 minutes while going as deep as 44 meters.
37-year-old Ameeth Saeed died in the incident while 31-year-old Mubarik Abdulla was unharmed.
The defence force stated that they received the report at 5:14am and a sea ambulance had taken them to GDh. Thinadhoo at 6:05am.
