The parliament committee that summoned former defense minister Adam Shareef Umar has been made secret.
The committee is tasked with investigating the incident on July 24 when MPs were forced out of the parliament building by military personnel.
The committee is investigating whether former minister Shareef had violated the rights of MPs.
Opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has the majority in the 11-member committee with its seven members.
PPM MPs voted to make the committee secret at the meeting on Sunday night; some members of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) during the vote.
Shareef was initially to be questioned on Sunday but after he arrived at the meeting, the committee decided to question him after they complete some administrative tasks.
Speaking to RaajjeMV after the meeting, Shareef said he has not been notified of when he will be next summoned.
The committee is also set to summon Chief of Defense Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam, former home minister Azleen Ahmed, former speaker of parliament Abdulla Maseeh, and former secretary general of parliament Ahmed Mohamed.
