Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has thanked Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Mustafa for telling him before joining ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
In a tweet on Monday, Maumoon, the former leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), wished MP Mustafa luck after he signed onto MDP.

MP Mustafa said that he first left MDP to join PPM after facing obstacles from within the government and after discussing it with his constituents. He said that the main reason he re-joined MDP is to contest the parliamentary election with the party.
Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Abdulla has also recently joined MDP.
