Those who funded Dr. Afrasheem’s murder are linked to MDP: Umar
He said there had not been enough evidence to charge the suspects

Former home minister Umar Naseer has said that investigations have already uncovered who funded Dr. Afrasheem Ali’s murder and that they have links to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
In an interview with Avas Online, Umar said that it is not completely true that authorities have yet to discover who were behind the religious scholar’s murder.
He said that the suspects were arrested during the investigation and jailed for two to three months but that there had not been enough evidence to charge them.
In the interview, Umar said that he had closely looked into the investigation and concluded that the murder was neither a plot of MDP’s leadership or former President Abdulla Yameen.
While there was no direct link to MDP, Umar claimed that those who funded the murder are affiliated with the now-ruling party.
