All employees at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment will have the independence to carry their own political beliefs, says former Member of Parliament and current Minister of Youth, Ahmed Mahloof.
He said this in an interview with RaajjeMV after the football tournament held in Galolhu National Stadium, which was part of the sports festival hosted by the new government on Monday, “Dhulhaheyo Hadhiheyo Eid”.
The Minister stated that although he is a very political person, he will not force his employees to take part in any political gathering or event.
"The first thing I told my employees at our first meeting, is that I am a very political person. However, I will not force them to join any political activity that I am part of. Employees will be guaranteed their right to political beliefs. They may take part in any gathering they want to,” said Minister Mahloof.
On Monday, Minister Mahloof met his employees for the first time since being appointed as Minister. In a later tweet, he said that the staff from the maintenance department are the most hard working employees of the youth ministry.

Mahloof, who previously held the post of Manager of the Maldives National Football Team, went on to state that his employees have assured him that they are happy with his appointment as Minister, and that they are willing to work alongside him although the government has changed.
Mahloof has said that he did not take his oath of office just to sit in the cabinet wearing ‘a tie’, assuring citizens that he desires to bring a significant change to the sports sector and that he hopes to bring about good results under President Solih’s instructions.
