Health minister Abdulla Nazim has said that Dharumavantha Hospital will be opened in February next year.
During a media tour of the building on Wednesday, minister Nazim said that the hospital is 95% complete but that it has taken longer than expected.
The 25-story building, established next to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, was originally scheduled for completion on July 26. It is set to expand the country’s medical facilities and services.
The Dharumavantha Hospital project was announced on 5 June 2016 and is being built by Singaporean company Chang Hua Construction. The project is set to cost the state USD 140 million (MVR 2.1 billion), not including money needed for equipment.
The proposed budget for next year set MVR 93 million for the equipment at Dharumavantha Hospital.
