Former Defense Minister Mohamed Nazim has been appointed as the political advisor to Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim.
He was given the position on Monday, at a special ceremony at the JP headquarters.
At the ceremony, Nazim handed over his application for registration to JP to party leader Qasim.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nazim vowed to be a loyal and trustworthy member of the party.
Also at the ceremony, Qasim expressed joy in seeing Nazim join JP and said that it was a great accomplishment for the party.
Sentenced to 11 years in prison on a weapons smuggling charge in 2015, Supreme Court recently ruled to released the former defence minister as it reviews his conviction.
His younger brother Adam Azim, the former managing director of State Trading Organization, is also a JP member.
