Cases of corruption must be addressed fairly, with no regard to party allegiances: Sheikh Ilyas

Ilyas said this in a tweet he posted on Thursday

Individuals that are accused of corruption or graft must face justice, despite party allegiances, says Sheikh Ilyas Hussein.

Ilyas said this in a tweet he posted on Thursday. The tweet says, ‘Even if they change parties, those that face allegations of corruption must also face justice for it. No one should be allowed to evade justice, otherwise this nation will never see stabilty’.

Ilyas’ tweets comes as reports surface that senior government officials are expressing support for president-elect Ibrahim Solih as a means of keeping their positions in state offices and even hiding acts of graft.

However, Solih has earlier said that he and his coalition partners will not be making any deals or deliberating with individuals accused of corruption, unless they are cleared of the charges through investigative and judicial processes.

Ilyas is a prominent religious lecturer and a senior member of the Adhaalath Party, one of Solih's coalition partners.
