The parliament has stated that around 10,000 to 11,000 people will be invited to President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s inauguration.

At a press conference on Sunday, deputy speaker Moosa Manik said that the parliament and president-elect Solih’s office is working together to hold his inauguration ceremony according to his wishes.

Moosa Manik said that this year will be the 50th Republic Day and so they will make the inauguration eventful by holding it at the national stadium and opening it up to the public, as requested by Solih.

He said that since Solih will take his oath at a parliament sitting, the parliament will give out the necessary invitations first before allowing the political parties to invite whoever they wish.

He said that the parliament is now sending invitations to foreign leaders and dignitaries.
