The Maldives Customs Service has announced a search for illicitly imported cigarettes.

The customs said that these ‘Ryder’ brand cigarettes were imported illicitly and has asked tobacco traders to refrain from purchasing or selling them.

In addition to this, the customs has also warned that any traders that do involve themselves in the sale of these cigarettes will face legal penalty.

The customs publicized a photograph of said cigarettes that show the packs carrying warning labels in Dhivehi and to have been imported by a company called ‘Acute Trading Private Limited’.
