Search order issued for 48 hours
Qasim Ibrahim arrives at Villa Building search site
Police on Sunday searched the properties owned by Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim.
Police searched Maafannu Villa, his residence, and offices registered under his name.
The search came after Qasim Ibrahim on Saturday said the “number of Members is now complete” in a rally held in M. Kunooz, the main headquarters of Jumhooree Party.
The order, signed by Criminal Court Judge Abdul Baaree Yoosuf, said that Qasim Ibrahim is under suspicion for trying to sway a vote in Parliament, offering bribes to the Parliamentarians and attempting to overthrow a legally elected Government, as well as encouraging dissent within the Armed Forces and spread discord within the society. The order said that Police had the authority to remove everything that was connected to the case.
The order is applicable to 48 hours.

Qasim was arrested on the same charges on the 6th of this month, but released on the 13th after High Court had decreed that his arrest had violate the privileges accorded to a Parliamentarian.
Jumhooree Party had condemned the search calling it “an act of terror”.
