The police have on Wednesday begun searching for Mohamed Nadheem, who is former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s son-in-law.

Gayoom’s faction of the Progressive Party of Maldives confirmed that the police had gone to Yumna Maumoon’s home in search of her husband.

The officers had a warrant granted by a court in relation to an ongoing investigation.

“We do not know what this is in connection to” the officers had reportedly told those that answered the door.

The police’s media official refused to comment on the matter.
