Joint Opposition's 'transition committee' visits 67 state offices
Committee chair Abdulla Shahid said that the committee is formed of 13 sub committees and has a total of 418 representatives

Representatives of the Joint Opposition's 'transition committee' have thus far visited 67 state offices, in their work to ensure the smooth transition of executive power, following the incumbent president's loss in September's ballots.

At a press conference on Thursday, committee chair Abdulla Shahid, a long serving statesman and parliamentarian, said that the committee is formed of 13 sub committees and has a total of 418 representatives.

Shahid said that the committee has recieved utmost cooperation from ministerial-level officials, board of directors, senior, and junior employees of state offices that they have thus far visited.

"We have recieved great cooperation even from the President's Office, however there are some offices that outright refuse to work with us, notably the Housing Ministry and minister Mohamed Mohamed Muizzu", Shahid said.

Ahmed Latheef, the transition committee's director general, said that they strongly urge state offices against hiring new employees, giving promotions to employees, and starting up new projects.

Latheef also spoke about the Housing Ministry's ongoing shelter program, under which 400 plots of land are to be sold, and said that it is being carried out against the Anti-Corruption Commission's directives.

Shahid attested to the transparency and integrity of the committee's work, having said that the 418 representatives working to ensure a smooth transition are capable people who have volunteered.

Shahid further assured that none of said representatives are interested in exploiting their access for personal gain, during the transitional period.
