Maldives Police Service have confirmed that an arrest has been made in connection to the assault of a 33-year-old man in Fuvahmulah city on Saturday night.
The police's media officer had earlier revealed that the assault on the 33-year-old man was reported close to 08:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A Fuvahmulah Hospital official, where he was immediately taken for treatment, told RaajjeMV that the man had been stabbed in a total of four places; the neck, head, stomach and back. He is still receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police on Sunday said that a 28-year-old man had been arrested under a court order in connection to the stabbing.
While cases of assault and gang violence have notably increased in the capital city Male’ and outlying atolls, police crime statistics show a hike in assault cases by 10% within the past month.
