Solih accepts invitation to national university's debate for presidential candidates

Joint Opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has accepted the invitation to a debate for the presidential candidates to be hosted by Maldives National Univeristy (MNU) and state media PSM.

President Abdulla Yameen, the ruling party’s candidate, has also accepted the invitation.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the university thanked both presidential candidates for accepting the invitation and said they will publish the details soon.

The debate is to be held sometime in September.

The opposition have expressed concern over a debate being hosted by PSM, which has been promoting President Yameen while refusing to give a platform to Solih. However, the university has stated hat they will be moderating the debate.

While President Yameen will be appearing in the university’s debate, he has declined to appear in RaajjeTV’s debate show, citing his busy schedule.
