Aishath Fazna Ahmed has resigned as assistant prosecutor general.

VFP has reported that Fazna confirmed her resignation to the news website, citing her saying that she resigned due to personal issues.

PG office’s media official did not answer RaajjeMV’s call to get a confirmation.

Fazna is an experienced attorney who had worked at the PG office for a number of years, handling numerous prominent cases.

She was the top state prosecutor in the cases against senior state officials accused of attempting to overthrow President Abdulla Yameen’s government, which includes the prosecution of former Supreme Court justices Abdulla Saeed and Ali Hameed, and nine other people.

Fazna was also part of the legal team that prosecuted former President Mohamed Nasheed and former defence minister Mohamed Nazim.
