Prosecutors have raised charges against a third suspect in the 2016 heist on Western Union.

The prosecution had previously raised terror charges against two men – Mohamed Fairooz from Magoodhoo of Faafu atoll and Ali Shaneez from Kondé of Gaafu Alifu atoll.

The case was forwarded to the court on 21st February.

On October 2nd, a group masked men armed with knives had broken into and robbed the Western Union outlet, after having tied up security personnel and other employees.

The men entered the outlet shortly after midnight at around 12:45 am.

The police have reportedly recovered USD 1.2 million and 321,603 – though they are unsure exactly what the amount stolen was.
