Jumhooree Party's recently elected President, Ali Waheed has said that the biggest threat to national security 'is the current administration'.

His tweet comes after a post on a Facebook page belonging to Defence Minister Adam Shareef, which said that the police and military are on high alerts amid reports of threats to national security.

The post said that the military has been receiving reports that some are working to create chaos in the country 'in the coming days' and that both the military and police are closely monitoring these threats.

In a tweet posted after, Waheed claimed that 'the biggest threat to national security is this administration'.

While the defence minister's message regarding threats to national security was posted on his Facebook page with less than 2,000 followers, the manner in which it announced has received immense criticism.
