Maldivians are losing their grip on the country because of President Abdulla Yameen’s government, says opposition coalition running mate Faisal Naseem.
Speaking in a ceremony in ADh. Dhigurah on Monday, Faisal said that all the four opposition leaders working for reform have banded together into a coalition because they have also observed the same concerning situation.
“We are now seeing ourselves losing our grip on the country. None of us wants to see our freedom taken away. Maldivian citizens do not want to see a day we have to be subservient to a foreign nation in our own country.”
Pointing to President Yameen’s policies, Faisal said that Maldivians have to contemplate a depressing situation unheard of in our history and that he wants to bring an end to the concerned expressions on the citizens’ faces.
Upon his arrival to Dhigurah, Faisal received a warm welcome from Dhigurah residents upon his arrival. Faisal travelled to the island as part of the opposition’s campaign trip to Alif Dhaalu atoll.
Faisal is accompanied by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Vice President Mohamed Shifaz, Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef, Makunudhoo MP Anara Naeem, and Jumhooree Party (JP) council members Adam Azim and Mohamed Maleeh.
