While police officer raided Cessna house in the capital city's Maafannu ward late Wednesday night, RaajjeMV has learnt that they did so without a court order.

Officers had barged into Cessna after kicking down the main door, at around 12am. The operation was still ongoing at 8am on Thursday.

While police raided an apartment on the fifth floor of the building, RaajjeMV understands that its residents were asleep when the officers barged in, and that they were shown a court order over three hours later.

Two individuals were arrested in the operation that lasted around eight hours. While both were released on Thursday morning, RaajjeMV has learnt that one of the individuals, a native of Dhiggaru island of Meemu atoll, is the ex-husband of the woman living in the apartment raided.

Those at the scene also confirmed that officers were seen carrying out a bag from the house.

While police are yet to disclose any information regarding the raid, it is reported that it was in relation to detained Dhiggaru constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon, who is believed to be connected to the tenant in the apartment on the fifth floor.

RaajjeMV also understands that two individuals had brawled on the building's staircase prior to the police's raid.

While the house belongs to Mohamed Allaam Latheef, one of the individuals wanted in connection to the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) corruption case, RaajjeMV understands that the raid had nothing to do with him.

Police spokesperson, Superintendent Ahmed Shifan was seen active at the scene. He had said that details regarding the operation will be shared with the media 'later'.
