Customs to install tracking devices on vehicles transporting alcohol and pork
'Chances of transporting alcohol and pork products to prohibited areas in the country will be decreased'

Maldives Customs Service has revealed that they they will be installing tracking devices on vehicles and vessels transporting alcohol and pork products to track their routes.

Commissioner General of Customs Mohamed Junaid said that the Customs control room satellite will be able to track routes from the moment vehicles and vessels are loaded with alcohol and pork, once the tracking devices are installed

“We will know the names of the resorts to which alcohol and pork products are being transported to once the airport bonded warehouse begins loading them. As such, we will be able to find out if they are being transported to the right place, and if they take a different route. We are currently working to bring this into effect” said Junaid.

Junaid added that the Customs control room will find out through their satellite if the vehicle takes the delivery to the wrong address, adding that the chances of transporting alcohol and pork products to prohibited areas in the country will be lessened with the introduction of these tracking devices.
