Opposition-aligned lawmakers have successfully ended their campaign to re-register citizens for September’s presidential elections.

The lawmakers went door-to-door on Saturday to re-register citizens from various constituencies living in Male’.

The campaign was inaugurated at Jumhooree Party (JP)’s campaign site in the capital city by the opposition coalition parties’ running mate, Kaashidhoo MP Faisal Naseem, who had also joined their efforts.

After ending the door-to-door campaign on Saturday night, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Vice President Mohamed Shifaz said that citizens had addressed their concerns for the elections during their visits.

He also said that they have achieved their goal of re-registering 100 citizens from each constituency living in Male’.

Citizens are allowed to re-register to vote in a region other than their place of residence before August 11.
