President Yameen wants to put everyone in Male’: Addu City Mayor

President Abdulla Yameen is trying to uproot all the citizens and place them in capital city Male’, says Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sadiq.
Responding to the move to transfer the Fuvahmulah registry from the councils to the housing ministry, The Mayor told RaajjeMV that President Yameen has been undermining the principles of decentralization for his own gain.
“President Yameen has taken away the power of the people to do whatever he wants with them. He has been hindering the work of the elected councils.”
He said he has never seen any other leader that has done so many unlawful acts as President Yameen and criticized President Yameen for opening up the Male’ registry and then transferring the relevant power from the Male’ council to the housing ministry.
“This is likely President Yameen’s biggest pledge. That there would be no decentralization under his rule. That pledge has been fulfilled.”
He said that President Yameen wants to force people in the atoll to move to Greater Male’, to sell the emptied islands, and put an end to life in the atolls.
He urged everyone who wants decentralization to vote for opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in September’s election.
