Zariyand: Muththalib's accounts and financial transactions must be investigated in connection with Ras Male' project

Warning that the project poses a potential threat to national security, Zariyand emphasized the urgent need to scrutinize the bank accounts of ministers and verify any assets they may have acquired abroad.

Financial expert Ismail Zariyand has stated that the bank accounts and financial transactions of Housing Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib must be investigated in connection with the Ras Male' project.
Expressing concern over the agreement to award a significant portion of the Ras Male' project to Abu Dhabi’s Eagle Hills company, Zariyand stated during a RaajjeTV talk show that the government's claims of generating substantial revenue from the project are untrue. He noted that the state is currently not receiving any significant financial benefit from the deal. Furthermore, he highlighted that the government is currently in desperate need of US dollars.
Referring to the Ras Male' project, Zariyand stated that President Muizzu, along with Minister Muththalib and Finance Minister Hassan Zareer, are being untruthful regarding the country's financial transactions. He further noted that the Maldivian people are now far too informed to be deceived by such falsehoods.
Furthermore, Zariyand stated that if Minister Muththalib or his family members have purchased properties such as flats within the past three to four months, these transactions must be investigated. He added that it is also necessary to determine whether any assets or properties have been acquired abroad in recent times.
They have already received their share. Therefore, I am asserting that Housing Minister Muththalib's accounts must be scrutinized. If Minister Muththalib or any members of his family have acquired properties—such as flats or similar assets—within the last three or four months, those transactions must be investigated. Furthermore, any recent acquisitions of overseas property must also be examined. This is a serious matter, and it is not the first time such an issue has arisen in this country.Ismail Zariyand
Drawing on historical precedents, Zariyand stated that the Maldives had previously fallen under foreign influence due to the self-serving actions of those in power. He warned that leasing Ras Male' to foreign entities for a long duration poses a significant threat to the nation and asserted that Jews must not be allowed to settle in the Maldives. Furthermore, Zariyand called upon the opposition to closely monitor these developments and take the necessary actions.
