Tablets should block harmful sites: Ex-Education Minister

Dr. Lutfi said the government should have filters on the tablets before giving them to students

The government-issued tablets should block sites harmful to students, advised former Education Minister Dr. Mohamed Lutfi.

Students are being provided with tablets as part of the government’s initiative to digitize schools.

In a tweet on Sunday, Dr. Lutfi said the government should have filters on the tablets before giving them to students.

The education ministry has finished distributing over 70,000 tablets to students and teachers as part of the government’s initiative to digitize the education sector. All teachers working in the country have also undergone courses on using the devices.

The government has also announced that the school networks have been upgraded.

The tablets are not being used in schools yet, despite the education ministry’s statement that the use of tablets will begin in the second term.
