Jumhooree Party (JP) Feeali island branch has called on their Member of Parliament Ahmed Mubeen to either resign from his Parliament seat or revert back to his original Party, JP.
The branch made this statement in a press release issued Monday.
The statement condemned JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim’s arrest, calling it illegal, an injustice and a miscarriage of justice. The statement also condemned the illegal arrest of JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim, adding that he was jailed without just cause.
Feeali branch said Qasim’s rights given under the Constitution as he was a Member of Parliament had been revoked and that he had not been given permission to attend Monday’s Parliament session. The statement said Monday’s Parliament procedures were embarrassing.
The members of the branch had called on their MP, Bilehdhoo Constituency MP Ahmed Mubeen to return back to JP without any conditions. If he had any conditions or reservations, the statement said that he must resign from his seat effective immediately.
Protests had flared out in various parts of the country, after the Parliamentarian was arrested.
