Rescue officers assist two vessels run aground

Cargo vessel, ‘Fresh Six’, reported that it had collided with a reef at about 06:15am

Rescue officers from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) have on Friday assisted two vessels that ran aground onto a reef on Friday.

The first of these vessels is Litus Carrier, a 110-foot cargo ship that left capital city Malé and collided into a reef in the southern region of Meemu atoll.

This incident was reported to the MNDF southern area command at about 04:00am on Friday. Four expatriates and six Maldivian nationals were aboard the vessel at the time and none of them were injured.

Cargo vessel, ‘Fresh Six’, reported that it had collided with a reef at about 06:15am, and the MNDF had managed to send assistance by 07:54am.

Fresh Six was assisted by the MNDF's 114 squadron harbor craft. Three people had been aboard the 60-foot vessel, although none of them were injured.
