Terror trial: MP Sinan’s hearing cancelled
His hearing was scheduled for 3pm but the court announced its cancellation sometime after the scheduled time passed

Criminal Court has cancelled South-Mahchangolhi MP Abdulla Sinan’s hearing on terrorism-related charges on Monday.

His hearing was scheduled for 3pm but the court announced its cancellation sometime after the scheduled time passed.

At the preliminary hearing on Thursday, the state prosecutor said that Sinan, who has been remanded for the rest of his trial, has been involved with attempting to overthrow the government through the parliament since last year. He has also been charged for having involvement in the Supreme Court issuing an order on February 1 to release political prisoners and reinstate opposition MPs to parliament.

He is also charged with working with former police commissioner Ahmed Areef to create public unrest by pitting police officers against each other.
