Ibrahim Falaah, the deputy leader of the ruling party’s parliamentary group, has said that opposition leader and former President Mohamed Nasheed will be jailed if he returns to prison.
MP Falaah, who has previously been revealed to have a checkered relationship with lawmakers of the ruling party, said this while speaking at a rally held in Gan island of Laamu Atoll.
Falaah said, of Nasheed and fellow opposition leader Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, that they stand together as opponents of the government for self-gain.
Nasheed has been sentenced to a 13-year jail term on allegations of arresting and detaining a Criminal Court judge.
The judicial proceedings for this case have been described as politically motivated and unjust.
