Officers of the police had handcuffed and violently dragged MP Faris Maumoon out of his cell on Friday, for an interview in their ongoing investigation.
Officers had attempted to question him but the parliamentarian refused to speak to them without the presence of a legal representative, his lawyer Faris Maumoon.
Faris’ lawyer said the lawmaker spoke to officers with him present but refused to sign the statement as officers neglected include his claims of inhumane treatment while in custody.
Maumoon also reported his client to be in ill-health as a result of officers manhandling him.
.@PoliceMv unlawfully using brute force to drag @afarismaumoon out of his cell resulted in Faris' shoulder being injured, but despite Dhoonidhoo doctor advising urgent tests, 24 hrs have elapsed without these tests being done.
