Maaz Saleem, a prominent supporter of the government, has been removed from his position as deputy minister at the Home Ministry.
In his capacity as deputy minister, Maaz Saleem had previously been assigned with organizing and managing events and ceremonies held by the ministry.
Maaz Saleem has also been seen in campaign efforts alongside First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, although he did not join her in the trip to Kulhudhuffushi island this week.
Maaz Saleem has confirmed his termination, and said that he was removed on Wednesday evening.
The former deputy minister however refused to say anymore on the grounds that he did not wish to share anymore information with RaajjeMV.
The position of deputy minister is a politically appointed one, and there are about 800 individuals filling such positions in the Maldivian government.
