State undecided on appealing RaajjeTV COO’s ‘not guilty’ verdict
Fiyaz Moosa was found not guilty of hitting a police officer in late 2015
Court verdicts are required to be appealed within 10 days
The court found him not guilty on August 27

The Prosecutor General (PG)’s office said it has not yet decided on appealing the Criminal Court’s ‘not guilty’ verdict on RaajjeTV’s COO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa four months ago.

Mr Moosa was found not guilty of hitting a police officer near the stadium on the night 2 November 2015, when the police service was attempting to defuse a bomb found at the official residence of the president, Muliaage.

The court found him not guilty on August 27.

The PG’s office said they will remain undecided on filing an appeal at the High Court until they receive the case report. But the Criminal Court has said it has already handed it over to the State.

Court and tribunal verdicts are to be appealed to the High Court within 10 days. But the appeal would be accepted after the deadline for special circumstances.
